This year we celebrate Halloween in the mountains. Two magical days in Lessinia: summit Trappola, red‑golden forests, night descent with headlamps under a moonless sky, and a hut night with mountain dinner and Cimbrian tales around the fire

2 days Max 12 people Easy-Medium

Why this tour?

In late October the Lessinia transforms. The oak woods blaze in copper and gold, evening fog rolls up from the valleys, and the closed mountain passes seem to keep secrets. According to tradition, this is when the veil between our world and the spirit realm thins – especially here, in the Little Dolomites. You'll hike along a ridge that was once a World War I front line, past trenches and old border stones of the Serenissima, up to Cima Trappola (1,865 m) with the Carega looming ahead. You'll wander forests said to be home to the fade – the Cimbrian fairies – and where wolves have recently left their tracks. At sunset we ascend, light‑free, to Rifugio Scalorbi and return under the fading light with headlamps on. After dinner, the brave can join a night walk: the moon rises at 21:41 and the Milky Way stretches over the ridges. Back by the stove, we share legends of orcs, fade and wandering souls. Two days, one Halloween night in a mountain refuge – legends, fire and an autumn‑lit Lessinia.

Program

Day 1: San Giorgio → Buso del Valon → Trincheras → Cima Trappola → Passo di Malera → Pertica → Scalorbi We set off from San Giorgio with the autumn forest as the day’s first gift. We cross the Buso del Valon, the cave that keeps ice year‑round, and climb the World War I trenches up to Cima Trappola. Along the ridge we reach Rifugio Passo Pertica for lunch. In the afternoon we hike backpack‑free to Rifugio Scalorbi to watch the sunset, then descend by headlamp under the stars. Dinner by the fire, a night walk and spooky Halloween legends. Day 2: Rifugio Passo Pertica → Giazza Beech Forest → Rifugio Revolto → Passo di Malera → Malga Malera → San Giorgio After a hearty breakfast we descend to the Revolto valley through the Giazza beech forest, the most colourful wood of Lessinia, painted in copper and gold by autumn. Coffee break at Rifugio Revolto and a gentle ascent to Passo di Malera, with a final glance at Carega. We continue down to Malga Malera for a traditional mountain lunch and, after a half‑hour walk, return to the car.
